About the Session

Would you like to draw with charcoal but not sure how to begin? In this interactive and do-it-along session, our Knowledge Contributor — Saumya Saxena will help you sketch something using charcoal while making you understand the absolute basics of charcoal drawing.  You will learn the various do’s & don’ts of charcoal drawing – right from using charcoal pencil and compressed charcoal to understanding shading using charcoal. At the end of the session, you will have  learned many new things about charcoal drawing and feel more confident to start your journey into this wonderful artform.

Let’s get to know Saumya

Saumya Saxena is an artist who excels in making portraits with graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. She has created artworks with paints as well. She has conducted several art workshops and loves to help people develop their artistic skills. Check out some of her work here.

What you’ll need for the session

• 1 hour of your time
• A working internet connection
• Optional (The experience is all about doing-it-along with us!)
  • 2-3 sheets of blank paper
  • Charcoal pencils or Compressed Charcoal
  • Tissue paper or cotton bud
  • Paint brush
  • Any Eraser (mechanical or electrical eraser is preferable)

• No prior experience in Sketching
